There many dangerous aspects which should be taken into account when smoking and it is essential young adults reflect about them.

CULTURAL WEEK 2017

                     A PATH TO PEACE

During the week of March 13th-17th, the English Department has led several activities related to the topic "Sustainable Development for Peace" We named our projects as “ A PATH TO PEACE” . All the different levels at school, from ESO to Bachiller, have taken part in these activities and they all had the chance to pull their weight and carry out an endless number of creative activities related to the main topic considering sustainability and peace.

Students from following levels(2nd, 3rd, 4th)  have developed analysis about natural resources and the need of recycling to get a sustainable world and ensure the durability of our planet.

In this context, pupils from first of ESO have cooperated with the design of a fantastic world map which displayed all the countries and nationalities now present in our school (17 different nationalities) . Similarly, posters containing detailed information from those countries have also been undertaken so that everyone at school could access detailed information about them.

Regarding the higher levels, students have done a myriad of posters on the importance of sustainability in our planet at all levels, contributing works on the undeniable relevance of NGOs like Oxfam, Unicef, the Red Cross and their arduous work.

Last but not least, the jewel in the crown throughout the week has been the so called Eco-Planes Market, led by Juanjo Bastida and Mercedes Escavy and a group of students who belong to THE BIG BROTHER TEAM.  A personal market where whole educational community had a say. Both Students and teachers have collaborated in bringing to school an endless supply of items such as books, toys, jewellery, music, bags and clothes. The best part is the fact that money raised during the week will be given to the Foundation “ ARCOS DEL CASTILLO” which led many shelters for young children in our town.

The whole staff from the Department of English want to thank our partners , our students and the heads of studies and director for having supported our projects.

THEATRE, THEATRE, THEATRE!!

WE LOVE THEATRE!

On 7th February our students had a fantastic vitit to the theatre in La Alberca.

Students from the 1st and 2nd years saw a play called "All about Angel". It deals with the new life of a boy in Scotland and it focuses on a very controversial issue, BULLYING. With humour and loads of realism, students learn how to detect and treat bullies thanks to Angel and his new friends.

Furthermore, students from the 3rd, 4th years and students from Bachillerato enjoyed a great adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The play is set in the prohibition era with mobsters as protagonists instead of kings as in Shakespeare's original tragedy. The dramatization of the different roles has been perfectly portrayed on the stage. Besides some parts of the dialogue were in Spanish, helping our young learners understand this complex play. As Ben Jonson once said, "William Shakespeare is not for an age but for all time".

PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY

ELECTROYSIS.

We are plased to show you some videos on our project of Physics and Chemistry during the first term called "Electrolisys of water".

With this project, students have learnt that water is a chemical compound, since it can decompose into different substances via chemical changes and they show you as electricity can break the water bonds.

As you probably know, this is the first time that we teach Physics and Chemistry in the Second Year of CSE, so it is great to check these important improvements that our students do everyday.

 Well done!!

VISIT TO THE MUSEUM

Yesterday we visited the "Museo de la Ciencia y el Agua" in Murcia.
We enjoyed a lot with permanent and temporary exhibitions and especially with the visit to the Planetarium which, of course, was in English.
We want to thank the museum staff who allowed us to keep improving our English.

LONDON DECEMBER 2016

TRAVELLING TO LONDON. THIS IS OUR EXPERIENCE OF THIS AMAZING TRIP

The last 12th of December 17 students from 2nd of Bachillerato and two of their teachers, Margarita Tortosa and myself , Mercedes Escavy,  started our  trip to London.
We spent five days in the capital  visiting the most important places: The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Regent´s Park, Camden Town Market, Greenwich village and the observatory... Lots of awesome sites!
Moreover, we were invited to the Spanish Embassy where we met many young scientists who are working and researching in the United Kingdom. It was an amazing experience for all of us.
Every place was extremely interesting although, to be honest, the best memories will undoubtedly be the sharing of the trip with my students, who are really especial. They behaved respectfully and kindly to each other, and made the trip unforgettable!!! In addition, Margarita and me became  a very good team. Therefore....what else can we ask for??????????

CHRISTMAS 2016 PART 2

CHRISTMAS CAROL CONTEST

Christmas time can be incredibly funny and here at Jose Planes it really was! On December the 21st, students of all ages successfully took part in an amazing Christmas Carol singing contest where they had lots of fun. All of them came onstage and regaled us with tons of their art, creativity and magic. We had the chance to listen to wonderful cover songs of the most popular Christmas Carols, ranging from classic tunes as Rudolf the Reindeer or Jingle Bells to most modern and catchy hits like All I want for Christmas is you or George Michaels’s widely known Last Christmas. Some groups performed nice choreographies as they dusted off their tambourines and Christmas red and white hats.

On such a fantastic soiree, all of them did a fantastic job and the jury had a hard time to decide the winners of the contest. After a hard deliberation, 1º E ESO with Rudolph and their fantastic choreography was proclaimed winner and 4º A ESO with a surprising and difficult carol.
